DIRECTING

Whether a live event, awards show, comedy, drama or something in between, the playwright, producer and/or client has dedicated themselves to telling their story and/or promoting their organization.

Even in the most abstract pieces there is an element of truth to be found.  As a director I make sure to find the truth within the story and convey it from the playwright to the audience.   I encourage actors to bring their own opinions and views to their roles and the piece as a whole, utilizing improvisation along with script analysis and table reads to bring out the depth and intent of every moment.  My belief in collaboration extends to the design team as well.  I beleive the director's job is to have a clear and detailed vision, but to also allow his/her cast and crew to bring their own creativity to the process.

Please view some of the videos from Playwrights' Round Table's televised productions of pieces I have directed and subsequent interviews with host Ericka Cotton, myself and the playwrights.  (The video at the bottom right is the show only.)
